EPF Doubles championship 2009
Well done to Calum Mciver and Alan Pringle (store club) who have taken the 2009 EPF doubles title.
After squeezing through 5-4 against Mark Gilroy/Mark Mcgregor they then dispatched lyle/Corbett and J Robertson/P Ferguson 5-3 in the semi.
The opposite half of the draw saw Ricky Anderson and Derek Dudgeon start with a cracking 5-0 win over C Hunter/I Whyper then defeating I Scott/G Smith in a closer match.
Onto the semi and a few lucky breaks knocked the stuffing out of Cruickshank/Leaske for a 5-3 win.
The final was close to the end.At 6-5 up Alan Pringle potted a great ball up the rail and stuck away the hanging eightball for victory

Final result

EPF Scotch doubles championship 2009
TournamentsThe EPFs first scotch doubles tournament was played at Dianes pool hall on the 21st june.
A lower than expected turnout of 17 pairs were punched into the EPFs new electronic draw system which produced an horrendous draw for a few of the top pairs once the drawmaster pressed the magic button.

First prelim tie saw P Cruickshank/M Leaske take 5 frames on the bounce to beat B Murray/K Twaddle 5-1.

First round highlights saw J Gifford/G Gillespie have a convincing 5-0 win over reigning doubles champs M Conlon/B Doig.
R Hoy/G Smith scraping through 5-4 against ladies Y Saunders/V Hedge and Cruickshank/Leaske Losing very very unluckily to D Dudgeon/R Anderson.
Also there were 5-0 wins for J Robertson/T McCartan and C Ronaldson/C Scott.

The quarter finals saw M Mcgregor/M Gilroy and T Currie/J Ferguson both win to set up the first semi
Gillespie/Gifford dished out another 5-0 pumping while Robertson/McCartan ended Anderson/Dudgeons dreams.

Both semis finished 5-3 but both matches should have gone to the wire with winners Mcgregor/Gilroy and Robertson/McCartan taking Advantage of missed chances and heading into the final

Congratulations to Jimmy Robertson/Tony McCartan(Harp A) beating Mark Mcgregor/Mark Gilroy(Harp B) 7-4 in the final.
Our first scotch doubles champions
Well done guys

buy.at/spa is a simple concept.
All online purchases made via the links on the buy.at/spa web pages generate commission for the Scottish Pool Association.
When you click a retailer's link on buy.at/spa you will be taken to that retailer's web site. They are responsible for your
order.
When you place your order funds are raised for the SPA.

So ideally SPA members will get into the way of using buy.at/spa as their first port of call for online purchases.
It's worth emphasizing that purchases are made at no extra cost to members than had they gone straight to the purchase site..... the only difference is that the SPA raise funds at the same time when you go through buy.at/spa.
The way to see commission rates is by clicking the A-Z tab on buy.at/spa

There are regular promotions concerning the SPA Web Shop.

E.P.F and E.P.L Competition?
TournamentsI am thinking about this Idea and I think it would be a great Idea so I'll ask Richard what he thinks about doing a Super 11's Format with the Pool teams in E.P.F and E.P.L in Dianes Pool Hall

Same Super 11's Format that was used in Pettycur Bay

Hoping to get around 12 to 16 maybe more? teams from E.P.F and E.P.L and something like £100 entry fee or £10 per head?

We play in a Knock Out Format?

E.P.F and E.P.L all mixed up and can play each other, Drawn from hat or something on the day?

Money to Semi Finalist and Finalist? or even maybe Last 8?

Could get that Competition in around June/July'ish?

Get Dianes to re-cloth and re-fix their tables for this competition? with free play Pool

I'm sure a few teams from E.P.F would be interested but what about E.P.L?

It has to be the same players that plays in the same team no best players joining other teams just to play in that competition

Even if this does go ahead, You and We cannot be saying stuff like Oh, We're better than you because we won the competition, I just think it would be a good idea and so everybody can just get along and be friendly with each other then who knows a Merge might happen next year?
